Overnight Pet Care

Overnight Pet Care is one of our most comprehensive and personalized services. Reserving an overnight stay means reserving a dedicated block of time exclusively for your home and pets. Our professional W-2 Pet Care Professionals temporarily adjust their personal schedules, spend the night away from their own homes, and remain in your home throughout the reserved overnight period to provide attentive evening, overnight, and morning care. Our pricing also reflects the costs of employing professional W-2 team members, including wages, payroll taxes, workers’ compensation, insurance, ongoing training, scheduling support, and administrative oversight. Because overnight services require dedicated scheduling and include compensable overnight hours, they represent one of the most specialized services we provide. Most importantly, Overnight Pet Care provides your pets with personalized, one-on-one companionship while allowing them to remain safely in the comfort of their own home.

Your Pet Care Professional will sleep in a clean, comfortable guest bedroom or other private space you’ve designated for their stay. We ask that it include fresh linens, a pillow, access to a nearby bathroom, and reasonable climate control. Any unique details can be shared during your Sitter Introduction. Before departing, your sitter will tidy the space, make the bed, and handle linens according to your preferences (let us know if you’d like anything laundered).

To help your sitter feel prepared and comfortable, we recommend providing: a clean sleeping area, fresh bed linens, bathroom access, Wi-Fi information, emergency contact information, household instructions unique to your home, laundry instructions in the event of an unexpected pet accident (including any special care instructions for bedding, comforters, throw blankets, throw rugs, Ruggables®, or other washable items), and instructions for preparing your home for your return, such as preferred cleaning tasks, fresh linens, dishes, trash removal, or any other home reset requests you’d like completed before you arrive home.

To provide the safest, most consistent experience for both our clients and our Pet Care Professionals, Sitters by the Sea does not share Overnight Pet Care responsibilities with anyone outside of our own SBTS team. If additional coverage is ever needed, it will be provided only by another trained, insured, bonded SBTS Pet Care Professional. For the safety of our team members, we ask that friends, neighbors, family members, housekeepers, contractors, or other service providers not enter the home during an overnight reservation unless discussed with our office in advance. Limiting access to your home also helps protect your pets, your property, and the integrity of your home’s security, including alarm codes, lockbox combinations, keys, and entry instructions. We understand that situations sometimes arise where a contractor, repair technician, cleaning company, or another trusted individual may need access to your home during your reservation. We simply ask that you notify our office in advance whenever possible so we can coordinate accordingly and ensure the safety and comfort of both your pets and our Pet Care Professionals.

Our 8-Hour Overnight (10:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.) is our most requested option and covers your pet’s bedtime routine, overnight companionship, and morning care. Our 12-Hour Overnight (7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.) extends that coverage to include the full evening as well—dinner, an evening walk or potty break, and extra playtime and enrichment before bedtime. If your pet benefits from a longer wind-down in the evening, or if you’d simply like more hours of companionship covered in one reservation, the 12-hour option is a great fit. We’re happy to help you decide which length best suits your pet’s routine during your consultation.
