How many visits per day does my pet need?
Every pet is unique. We’ll gladly recommend a schedule based on your pet’s age, personality, medical needs, and daily routine. While some adult cats may do well with one visit per day, most dogs benefit from multiple daily visits for exercise, companionship, bathroom breaks, and consistency.
Do you care for cats?
Absolutely! Cats are an important part of our Sitters by the Sea family. Whether your cat enjoys quiet companionship or playful interaction, we’ll tailor each visit to their unique personality. Services may include feeding, fresh water, litter box maintenance, medication administration, brushing (if requested), playtime, and lots of affection—always at your cat’s pace.
Do you care for pets other than dogs and cats?
Yes! We proudly care for many companion animals, including birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, fish, reptiles, and other small pets. During your consultation, we’ll discuss your pet’s specific care routine to ensure we’re the right fit.
Can you administer medications?
Yes. We can administer most oral, topical, and many injectable medications according to your veterinarian’s instructions. Your pet’s health and comfort are always our top priority.
What household tasks are included?
In addition to caring for your pets, we’re happy to bring in mail and packages, water plants, rotate lights, adjust blinds and thermostats, take trash and recycling to the curb, perform home security checks, and more. We believe caring for your home is an important part of caring for your pets.
What is the Homecoming Refresh?
Our Homecoming Refresh is included on your final scheduled visit and helps make returning home a little easier. Before you arrive, we’ll tidy up pet-related areas, organize mail and packages, perform a final security check, and complete a few light housekeeping tasks so you can settle back in and focus on reconnecting with your pets.
What happens if my travel plans change?
We understand that travel doesn’t always go according to plan. If your return is delayed or you arrive home earlier than expected, simply let us know as soon as possible. We’ll do our very best to adjust your schedule based on sitter availability.
Can you visit at exact times?
We schedule visits within arrival windows rather than guaranteeing exact times. This allows us to provide dependable service while accommodating traffic, weather, and the changing needs of pets throughout the day. If your pet has a medical condition or requires care at a specific time, please let us know during your consultation, and we’ll do everything we reasonably can to accommodate those needs.
Do I need overnight care, or are scheduled visits enough?
It depends on your pet’s needs. Many pets do wonderfully with multiple daily scheduled visits for feeding, exercise, and companionship. Others—such as puppies, senior pets, pets with medical needs, or pets who experience separation anxiety—may benefit from the continuous companionship of Overnight Pet Care. We’re happy to help you decide during your consultation, and to walk you through our Overnight Pet Care options if that feels like the better fit.
